Here's an interesting CD we picked up on a recent buying trip. Way before Quincy's pop success, he made a number of great jazz albums, particularly with his big band. Even before that he made an album (perhaps two) entitled "The Jones Boys". If memory serves me right the date was under the name of Thad Jones. While no details of any kind are listed on this CD, except for the titles, I beleive that this CD is part of the Jones Boys LPs. Two titles give away the presence of Osie Johnson and Thad Jones (Osie's Oasis & Mad Thad). Vibes, piano, flute, tenor, trombone, Quincy's trumpet and Thad's trumpet all seem to be here. In any event, this is a swinging bop oriented session with 14 tracks. The "Cedar Process" has been used to enhance the quality. $16.00 postpaid.
